The main national organisation of and for the British Deaf Community is the British Deaf Association. The Deaf Community in Britain uses British Sign Language as its' first language and English as its' second language - this is an indigenous, bilingual community. The Deaf Community in Britain has a centuries long, distinct, rich and proud cultural history. The BDA is one of the UK's oldest organisations and has been a registered charity since 1890.
